PAC 2017

OK PAC here is my offer for 2017. If we are going to win in 2019 we are going to need to make some changes:

We have to focus on the positive.

Voters will not follow negative narratives.

Its a liberation not a revolution.

There is only one race, the human race.

Deal with the rich. They may not have the vote, but they do determine the outcome of elections.

You can't make the poor richer by making the rich poorer. When you threaten to force the rich to…

Golden Chariot

Golden Chariot

A Eulogy for Leonard Cohen

Philip Copeman

I rose in the moonlight, thunderous sound

The heavens opened, it rose off the ground.

The thong has broken

The Lord has spoken

Listen, listen. Keep your ear to the ground.

The Prophet is gone, for he had no choice

The singer…

Ode to Decolonised Education

Ode to Decolonized Education                                         (In lyrical Elizabethan Sonnet form)

India colonised european minds                                       (synecdote)

They gave us algebra, counting absurd.                           (antithesis, pun)

Given zero, empires started to gird,                                 (oxymoron, metonomy)

Commerce soon followed and oversea finds.                   …

Adamastor or a storm in a Tea cup?

Granted, when it comes to the Deficit, I am more jumpy than a project manager on a new extension at Nkandla, but consider these three estimates of the South African Deficit.

1) This is a press release from SARS chief, Tim Moyane as reported by…

Description of a Sclerotic Monopoly

Description of a Sclerotic Monopoly with reference to ESKOM,

Municipal Distributors, IEPPs and South Africa

Philip Copeman 21 August 2016

Most students of economics learn in first year microeconomics what the effects of a pure monopoly are, namely higher prices and reduced output. For purposes of this discussion on ESKOM and South Africa, I am interested not so much in final demand but in intermediate demand. That is where customers of the output are businesses…

Students are clambering towards the same trough

In the olden days it was known that if the Jakaranda blossoms were blooming in Pretoria and you hadn't started swatting, you were going to fail. Those destined for failure, 1 in 2 students, would descend into a morass of drunkenness and debauchery, to lap up the last days of freedom, before sobering up and getting a lowly paid wage at a local employer and living out the rest of her days in capitalist slavery.…

The Trans Rhodesian Rail Company

This satirical look at applied economics, describes dystopian problems and offers mathematically optimized solutions. With no regard for race, gender, religious belief, social ideology and with a particular animosity to those that promote the rights of groups, The Trans Rhodesian Rail Company sparks towards its destiny as one of Africa's premier wealth creators.…

Albanism is important

No Southern African could easily have been left untouched by the recent reports of attacks on Albino populations in Tanzania and Malawi. It is particularly disturbing to see social attitudes to Albanism. We view Human Albinos as genetic aberrations rather than as central core to our evolution. A simple thought experiment in evolutionary populatio…

Land Issue Update

South Africa, see if you can get this :

In the last two years, we have already taken back one third of the Land! We only have to do this two more times and we have taken everything.

In the last two years the Dollar Value of Land in South Africa decreased by around 30% (one thi rd rounded).

Where did it go?

It went into:…

White Monopoly Capital

Why do I find this particular arrangement of words so offensive?

Well mostly because they are written by non capitalists with the intent of attacking capitalists, it is a particularly South African slang usually spewed out by politicians, academics, government employees and beneficiaries of state payments. It seeks to demean the efforts and achievements of tax paying entrepreneurs.…

You can't create jobs

You can't create jobs

When will you guys get it? You can't create jobs!

You can't make money from some tax payer and pay it over to a worthy worker, without first taking it away from some other worthy worker first. You can't make a company employ a worthy worker, without getting that money from another worthy worker already working in the company. You can't take money from some heinous capitalist…

Sentencing the Gang of 233

Everyone of the 233 ANC Parliamentarians (plus Themba Godi) should be banned from ever holding public office in South Africa. They are guilty of having failed to uphold their Oath of Office and no solidarity in numbers, no claims of misunderstanding the facts, no mitigation of saving their carreers, no offers to pay back the money can absolve them of this criminality.…

Universities - are we on the same page?

Universities - are we on the same page?

Let me see if I get this right. Universities are there to train an elite worker class, a small group of capital managers and an even smaller group of entrepreneurs. Universities are there to raise the level of research in our society because research has a direct effect on GDP growth. Universities are a Government intervention to fill these gaps because the market system does not have the…

All along the watchtower

To all of you you have been fooled by the Jacob Zuma - Pravin Gordhan "About turn" I have something to say:

"There must be some kind of way out of here, "

Said the joker to the thief,

"There's too much confusion,

I can't get no relief.

Businessmen – they drink my wine

Plowmen dig my earth

None of them along the line

Know what any of it…
